Garrett Wilson Reportedly 'Untouchable' in Trade Talks Despite Jets' Deadline Deals

Paul KasabianNov 4, 2025

The New York Jets traded two ex-franchise cornerstones in cornerback Sauce Gardner (to the Indianapolis Colts) and defensive lineman Quinnen Williams (to the Dallas Cowboys) on Tuesday.

However, the Jets' rebuild and fire sale will not include star wide receiver Garrett Wilson, who is "untouchable," per SNY's Connor Hughes.

NFL insider Jordan Schultz added more information.

The 25-year-old Wilson is in his fourth season with the Jets. He's amassed 1,000-yard seasons in each of his first three campaigns and has added 36 catches for 395 yards and four touchdowns in six games this year.

Unfortunately, Wilson suffered a hyperextended knee and has missed the past two games. However, head coach Aaron Glenn told reporters that Wilson will return to practice this week in advance of the Jets' home game against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday.

Wilson signed a four-year, $130 million contract extension this past offseason, and he is under contract with the team through 2030.

The Jets notably also signed Gardner to a four-year, $120.4 million contract this offseason but pivoted on their plans for him on Tuesday.

However, it's clear the Jets want to keep Wilson aboard. Simply put, he's pretty invaluable to the team at his position.

Even despite missing two games, Wilson is well in first in receiving yards. The next-closest player is tight end Mason Taylor (242 yards). Wideout Tyler Johnson is next with 187 yards in seven games, and the only other wide receiver over 100 receiving yards is Josh Reynolds (101).

So Wilson is part of the team's present and future as the 1-7 Jets begin a serious rebuild in earnest. New York has a host of draft picks now thanks to both deals.

In the meantime, the Jets are entering the back half of their current season and hoping for two straight wins when they welcome the Browns.
