Jerry Jones Says Cowboys Have Made a Trade to Help 'Shortcomings' Before NFL Deadline

Zach BacharNov 3, 2025

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones revealed that the team has made a trade prior to Tuesday's deadline during an appearance on SiriusXM NFL Radio (h/t Jon Machota of The Athletic.

"Immediately it will have him on the field and it will address some of the things that have been our shortcomings," Jones said Monday.

He declined to name the player involved in the swap, though.

After the Cowboys' 27-17 loss to the Arizona Cardinals on Monday night, Jones said he has a deal on the table but is still deciding:

Jones explained earlier in the day that multiple trades could be coming for the Cowboys before Tuesday's deadline at 4 p.m. ET.

"We've made one," Jones said, per Calvin Watkins of the Dallas Morning News. "We possibly could make two more, and I'm going to wait and let you read about that when we send the papers in tomorrow."

Dallas has been impressive offensively in its first season under head coach Brian Schottenheimer, entering Monday with the NFL's No. 2 scoring offense by averaging 30.8 points per game.

Dak Prescott has also exceeded expectations this year, completing a career-high 70.3 percent of his passes through eight weeks while tossing 16 touchdowns compared to five interceptions. Prescott is also averaging 258.6 yards per game through the air.

Unfortunately, the latest loss dropped the Cowboys to just 3-5-1 largely due to their defensive struggles.

They allowed 404.6 yards per game, the second-most among all teams. Dallas has particularly experienced issues with slowing down opposing teams as of late, giving up 96 combined points over its past three games.

With the Cowboys' latest trade, reinforcements could be on the way.
