Jayden Daniels Getting 'Additional Opinions' on Elbow Injury, Commanders HC Says
Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels is seeking "additional opinions" before deciding on a course of action to address his dislocated elbow.
Head coach Dan Quinn told reporters the team should have an update in a day or two.
Daniels suffered the elbow injury in the fourth quarter of Washington's 38-14 loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, staying down on the field after he was tackled while running with the ball.
His arm was put in an air cast before he eventually entered the Commanders' locker room.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported Monday that there was a belief that Daniels' dislocated elbow was "not as bad as it could've been," but the signal-caller would still miss "several games."
Injuries already took a toll on the second-year passer prior to Sunday night, as he missed three of Washington's first eight regular-season contests due to hamstring and knee issues.
In six starts during Daniels' 2025 campaign, he's completed 62.5 percent of his throws for 1,184 yards and eight touchdowns compared to just two interceptions. He's also rushed for 262 yards and two scores.
Washington still sits at just 3-6 on the season, a disappointing result after advancing to the NFC Championship Game during its 2024 campaign.
Daniels was a key reason for the team's playoff run, putting together an incredible rookie year in which he threw for 3,568 yards while completing 69 percent of his throws. He picked up 891 yards on the ground as well, compiling 31 total touchdowns in 17 starts.
The former LSU standout earned Offensive Rookie of the Year honors for his efforts.
Marcus Mariota, who has already started three games this year, will be back under center for as long as Daniels is sidelined.
