Andrew PetersNov 2, 2025

Alex Cora would like to be celebrating a World Series this week, but the Boston Red Sox manager still had something to celebrate on Sunday.

Cora, 50, finished the 2025 New York City Marathon in four hours and 37 minutes on Sunday. He was seen on video crossing the finish line and getting his medal alongside other runners.

With 26.2 miles now behind him, Cora has another marathon to run in the form of the MLB offseason.

Cora led the Red Sox to the postseason for the first time since 2021 this season, shaking off a rough start to the year and finishing strong. Boston couldn't carry its momentum into the playoffs, losing in the wild card series to the New York Yankees in three games.

Now, he and the front office will attempt to bolster the roster and return even stronger next year.

Cora has found success in Boston, leading the Red Sox to a World Series victory in 2018, and he's trying to recreate that success soon. Perhaps seeing their manager achieve a feat like running a marathon will fire up members of the Red Sox this offseason.
