Shohei Ohtani to Start World Series Game 7 for Dodgers vs. Blue Jays

Andrew PetersNov 1, 2025

In a decisive Game 7 of the World Series, the Los Angeles Dodgers will put the ball in the hands of two-way star Shohei Ohtani to open the game.

Manager Dave Roberts indicated after Friday's win in Game 6 that the Dodgers planned to use Ohtani on the mound in some capacity.

"Just kind of figuring out what his temperature is on starting versus coming out of the pen, and so we're close to a decision," Roberts told reporters.

Roberts also said the Dodgers will have every pitcher available besides Yoshinobu Yamamoto, who pitched six innings in Friday's 3-1 win.

Ohtani pitched six innings and threw 93 pitches in Game 4, allowing six hits and four runs in the 6-2 loss. If he pitches on Saturday, it will come after just three days' rest.

ESPN's Alden Gonzalez noted that Ohtani has previously only made one start after three days' rest, but it came after pitching just two innings in his previous outing.

Ohtani will be a bit out of his comfort zone with the quick turnaround, but it might be the best option for the Dodgers as they look to win back-to-back titles.
