Tom Aspinall Trolls Ciryl Gane with Halloween Costume Photos After UFC 321 Eye Poke
Tom Aspinall had some fun at the expense of Ciryl Gane's eye poke during their title fight at UFC 321.
"At least I'm ready for Halloween," Aspinall wrote on his Instagram story over a photo of himself wearing an eye patch.
Saturday's heavyweight bout between Aspinall and Gane was ruled a no contest due to an eye poke, leading to Aspinall retaining his title.
He was taken to the hospital immediately after the incident, undergoing further examinations throughout the ensuing week.
Aspinall's father and head coach, Andy, revealed that his son couldn't see out of his right eye during a video posted to his YouTube channel on Tuesday.
"His right eye, he can't see anything," Andy said (h/t ESPN's Brett Okamoto). "It's just gray. [Doctors] tested him on words, and he just couldn't see anything. His left eye is 50 percent. It went about four letters [down the chart] and then he couldn't see letters. So, one is really, really blurry—and one is not working."
UFC CEO Dana White revealed that the matchup between Aspinall and Gane will be rebooked at a later date, per Okamoto.
Aspinall still sits at 15-3 following Saturday's result, with wins in his prior three fights against Curtis Blaydes, Sergei Pavlovich and Marcin Tybura.
As for Gane, he remained 13-2 with prior victories over Alexander Volkov and Serghei Spivac.
