George Pickens Says New Cowboys Contract Is Up to Jerry Jones, Sides Haven't Talked
George Pickens revealed that he hasn't talked with the Dallas Cowboys regarding a new contract and a potential deal is up to team owner Jerry Jones, according to Jon Machota of The Athletic.
"That's kinda up to what (Jerry Jones) wants to do," Pickens said Thursday, per Machota. "All I can do is perform at my best."
The wide receiver is currently playing on the final year of his rookie contract and is scheduled to hit free agency in 2026.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Pickens is in the midst of his first season with the Cowboys after they acquired him in a trade with the Pittsburgh Steelers in May.
The Steelers selected the 24-year-old with a second-round pick in the 2022 NFL draft, although they chose to move on from him after acquiring two-time Pro Bowl wideout DK Metcalf in a swap with the Seattle Seahawks.
Pickens showed signs of promise as a deep threat throughout his first three years in Pittsburgh, hauling in 174 receptions for 2,841 yards and 12 touchdowns across 48 games.
His first year in Dallas has been stellar, catching 43 passes for 685 yards and six scores. Pickens is currently averaging a career-high 85.6 receiving yards per game.
He also stepped up as Dak Prescott's top target when Cowboys star receiver CeeDee Lamb was forced to miss three contests due to an ankle injury, racking up 359 yards and four touchdowns during that span.
As for Jones, he discussed a potential contract extension for Pickens during an Oct. 14 radio appearance on 105.3 The Fan.
"We are always look at what we can do to basically financially improve where we are," Jones said. "Now, you don't financially improve without getting what you paid for... We'll look carefully at what we'll do financially, look carefully at what we do there with George.
"I can't tell you how proud I am, personally, for George. Because he is absolutely, as exciting as he's been on the field, he's been that kind of teammate. And he's inspirational, our coaches have enjoyed coaching him."
If Pickens continues to perform at a high level for the remainder of his 2025 campaign, the value of his next contract will only continue to increase.
