On the Oct. 29 episode of Dynamite, a four-way tag team match was held to determine who would challenge Brody King and Bandido for the tag titles at Full Gear.
FTR outlasted three of the best teams AEW has to offer, beating The Young Bucks, Jurassic Express and JetSpeed to become the new No. 1 contenders.
Entering Full Gear, FTR were one of only two duos in AEW history to have ever held the tag titles on at least two occasions, but they hadn't been champions since last dropping the titles in October 2023.
While FTR are among the most accomplished tag teams in pro wrestling over the past decade, King and Bandido are still relatively new to being a team despite the success they have enjoyed.
July marked the first time they ever teamed up in a two-on-two tag team match, and by August they became the new AEW world tag team champs by beating FTR and The Hurt Syndicate in a three-way tag match at Forbidden Door.
Since then, Brodido have had several impressive title defenses, including winning a four-way ladder match at All Out, and beating the team of Kazuchika Okada and Konosuke Takeshita last month at WrestleDream.
However, given the success FTR have had in AEW and across the globe over the past several years, they represented the toughest challenge yet for Brodido.
FTR's experience as a team worked to their advantage Saturday, as they beat Brodido to match The Young Bucks as the only three-time tag team champions in AEW history.
