NFL Insiders Suggest Tua to Raiders, Hendrickson to Eagles Among Trade Deadline Moves

Zach BacharOct 29, 2025

With the 2025 NFL trade deadline rapidly approaching, several high-profile players could be on the move.

The Las Vegas Radiers currently sit at 2-5 and starting quarterback Geno Smith has fallen below expectations during his first year with the team, leading to ESPN's Seth Walder suggesting a potential trade for Miami Dolphins signal-caller Tua Tagovailoa.

"What I would propose here is the Dolphins send a 2026 second-round pick and 2027 second-round pick along with Tagovailoa in exchange for a 2027 fifth-round pick," Walder wrote Wednesday.

While the Cincinnati Bengals reportedly aren't planning on trading star pass-rusher Trey Hendrickson, they could be more open to a change of scenery for the veteran if they continue to struggle after dropping to 3-5 on the season.

ESPN's Ben Solak proposed the Philadelphia Eagles becoming a possible trade suitor for Hendrickson, as he'd immediately provide a boost to an Eagles defensive front that only ranks No. 20 in the NFL with 16 sacks this year.

With Minnesota Vikings veteran quarterback Carson Wentz out for the season with a shoulder injury, the team could be on the hunt for another experienced passer to pair with J.J. McCarthy.

Walder suggested the Vikings could target Atlanta Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins, who now sits squarely behind Michael Penix Jr. on Atlanta's depth chart after signing a four-year deal worth $180 million as a free agent in 2024.

Given Tagovailoa's uncertain long-term future in Miami, Solak brought up Los Angeles Chargers backup quarterback Trey Lance as a potential trade target.

Although Lance has just one start under his belt since 2022, the No. 3 overall pick in the 2021 NFL draft is still only 25 years old and looked sharp during the 2025 preseason.

"The Dolphins are a struggling team that should trade players at the deadline," Solak wrote Wednesday. "But perhaps taking a midseason moonshot on a young quarterback makes sense while the team prepares for its inevitable split with Tua Tagovailoa. Mike McDaniel was the 49ers' offensive coordinator when San Francisco drafted Lance in 2021."

The Chicago Bears own a 4-3 record but have experienced issues defensively, ranking No. 25 among all teams by allowing 26.4 points per game.

Solak suggested the Bears as a trade destination for Washington Commanders cornerback Marshon Lattimore. Even though Lattimore has struggled during his 2025 campaign, a potential swap with Chicago would reunite him with defensive coordinator Dennis Allen.

Lattimore earned all of his four career Pro Bowl nods from 2017-21 while playing under Allen during his tenure as the New Orleans Saints' defensive coordinator.

The 2025 trade deadline is on Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET.
