Tyler Shough Named Saints' QB1 for Remainder of 2025 After Spencer Rattler Benching
New Orleans Saints head coach Kellen Moore revealed that rookie Tyler Shough will remain the team's starting quarterback for the rest of the 2025 season.
"Tyler's starting," Moore said Wednesday, per Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football. "We're not looking back on that."
Shough was previously named New Orleans' starter for Week 9 after he replaced Spencer Rattler, who was benched during the Saints' 23-3 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.

Rattler struggled to find consistency within New Orleans' offense throughout his first two years as a member of the team, owning a mere 1-13 record in 14 starts.
He finished 15-of-21 for 136 yards and an interception before he was benched against the Buccaneers.
Shough didn't fare much better in the defeat after replacing Rattler, though. He completed 17 of his 30 throws for 128 yards while getting picked off once.
The Saints selected Shough with a second-round pick in the 2025 NFL draft, adding him with the No. 40 overall choice out of Louisville.
The 26-year-old showed signs of promise in the preseason, completing 66.7 percent of his throws for 333 yards across three appearances. He also recorded one touchdown compared to one interception.
The Saints will be hoping that Shough can provide a spark to an offense that ranks No. 27 in the NFL by averaging a mere 295.0 total yards per game. New Orleans also owns the league's fourth-worst scoring offense, recording 16.0 points on a weekly basis.
Shough's first career start will come against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, with kickoff at 4:05 p.m. ET.
