Tyler Shough Named Saints QB1 vs. Rams, Spencer Rattler Benched
The New Orleans Saints have named rookie Tyler Shough their starting quarterback for their road game on Sunday at the Los Angeles Rams.
The Saints took the former Louisville star with the 40th overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft. He sat behind Spencer Rattler for the first seven-plus games of the season. However, Rattler was benched during his team's 23-3 home loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, and Shough took over down the stretch.

New Orleans has struggled through a 1-7 start, and the team has scored just 16.0 points per game (fourth-lowest mark in the 32-team NFL).
The offense has particularly been dormant of late, with the Saints failing to score in the final 24 minutes of a 26-14 road loss to the Chicago Bears before managing just one field goal (after a strip sack set the Saints up near midfield) against the Bucs.
Rattler completed 68.0 percent of his passes over eight games, accounting for 1,586 yards (6.2 yards per attempt), eight touchdowns and five interceptions. His quarterback rating of 86.8 ranks 23rd in the NFL.
Shough completed 17-of-30 passes for 128 yards (4.3 yards per attempt) and an interception against the Bucs. He also rushed three times for 12 yards.
With the Saints struggling through a one-win campaign that appears almost certain to end outside of the playoffs, it makes sense for New Orleans to give Shough a shot down the stretch. Kickoff on Sunday is set for 4:05 p.m. ET.
