Freeman Wows Fans as Dodgers Win 18-Inning World Series G3 After Ohtani Makes History

Andrew PetersOct 28, 2025

The Los Angeles Dodgers have control of the World Series.

Thanks to a historic performance from Shohei Ohtani and heroics from Freddie Freeman, the Dodgers won Game 3 of the World Series 6-5 in an 18-inning thriller. Monday's game is tied for the longest game in World Series history.

Both teams scored in the seventh inning, but went the next 10 innings without scoring a run.

The Dodgers escaped the 10th and 11th innings unscathed, but faced a bases-loaded, two-out situation in the 12th, and brought on the veteran Clayton Kershaw to get them out of it. He did just that, forcing a groundout on a 3-2 count to keep things tied going into the bottom of the 12th.

The Dodgers' offense showed some life in the 13th and got a man in scoring position, but with the bases loaded, Freeman popped out, and Los Angeles couldn't capitalize.

A few more scoreless innings later, Freeman delivered as the hero. He hit a walk-off home run in the bottom of the 18th to win it for Los Angeles.

While Freeman had the biggest hit of the game, Ohtani delivered a historic performance.

Ohtani went 4-for-4 with two home runs, three RBI and three runs in one of the best performances in World Series history. He homered in the third inning to give the Dodgers a 2-0 lead and tied things up in the seventh with his second homer.

He went on to be intentionally walked four times, a first in a postseason game, and he was also the first player ever to reach base safely seven times in a postseason game. Ohtani reached base safely nine times in total.

There were 11 innings between Ohtani's final hit and the end of the game, but fans still took note of all that he did before the slew of intentional walks.

If Ohtani didn't do enough on Monday, he'll also be the Dodgers starting pitcher in Game 4 on Tuesday.
