Ravens' John Harbaugh Calls Lamar Jackson Injury Report Designation 'Honest Mistake'

Andrew PetersOct 26, 2025

After an error on the injury report regarding Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, head coach John Harbaugh addressed the situation.

Per The Athletic's Jeff Zrebiec, Harbaugh clarified that he's not involved in the team's injury designations, adding that the Ravens "made an honest mistake." Harbaugh also said that he's hopeful Jackson will be able to play on Thursday.

The Ravens initially marked Jackson as a full participant in Friday's practice, but changed his designation to limited before ruling him out against the Chicago Bears because of his hamstring injury.

ESPN's Jamison Hensley reported that Jackson "participated fully in Friday's practice, but he ran the scout team," which means Baltimore should have listed him as limited, per the NFL's injury report policy.

"A player who participates in individual drills, but for medical reasons doesn't take his normal repetitions during the team portion of practice and is assigned to the scout team should be listed as 'limited participation,'" the NFL injury report policy states. "Participation on the scout team, no matter how extensive, by a player whose normal repetitions would be with the starter but for his medical condition, would not alter the player's proper designation as 'limited participation.'"

The Ravens, or any other team, incorrectly noting a player's status has multiple implications. The first is for the opposing team, in this case, the Bears, who were preparing to face on offense led by Jackson after he was listed as a full participant.

It also impacts gambling, as Baltimore went from being six-point favorites on Oct. 23 to 1.5-point favorites on Saturday.

NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy told reporters on Saturday that the league will evaluate the situation further.

"The league will look into this," McCarthy said. "The league reviews any matter involving a change to a player's status."

Without Jackson, the Ravens beat the Bears 30-16 behind a pair of touchdowns from star running back Derrick Henry.

The win snapped a four-game losing streak for Baltimore, and the Ravens are hoping to have Jackson back on the field for this Thursday's contest against the Miami Dolphins.
