MLB World Series 2025 Box Score Stat Predictions for Blue Jays vs. Dodgers Game 3

Joe TanseyOct 26, 2025

The 2025 World Series shifts to Dodger Stadium on Monday for Game 3.

The pitching matchup stands out right away because it pits Max Scherzer against Tyler Glasnow.

Scherzer isn't the dominant pitcher he was in his prime, but he proved in the ALCS that he can give the Toronto Blue Jays some valuable innings.

Glasnow produced back-to-back eight-strikeout performances for the Los Angeles Dodgers, but he may need to get batters out in a different way in Game 3.

Toronto's batters have only struck out on 12 occasions through two games, which is eight fewer punchouts than the Dodgers bats.

Starting Pitchers

1 of 3
Championship Series - Milwaukee Brewers v Los Angeles Dodgers - Game 3

The Blue Jays are the fourth team Scherzer will make a World Series start for in his career.

Scherzer's longest World Series start was his first for the Detroit Tigers in 2012. He went five innings in his two appearances for the Washington Nationals in 2019. He had a three-inning stint for the Texas Rangers in 2023.

The expectation is for Scherzer to throw five innings on Monday. He lasted 5.2 frames in ALCS Game 4. He lasted five innings in two of his last three regular-season starts.

Scherzer doesn't have overwhelming stuff anymore, but he still knows how to get batters out, as he proved against Seattle.

Glasnow produced eight strikeouts in each of his last three playoff starts, but it will be difficult to reach that total against a Toronto team that is one of the best at putting the ball in play.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto had eight strikeouts in Game 2, but that was over the course of nine innings. Blake Snell had four punchouts across five innings in Game 1.

Glasnow can still have a lengthy start even if he doesn't strike out a ton of batters. There is concern about a long outing, though, because the Dodgers have a fully fresh bullpen after Yamamoto's complete game.

Dave Roberts could pull Glasnow earlier than usual with more leverage arms available.

Stat Predictions:

Max Scherzer: 5 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 4 K

Tyler Glasnow: 5.2 IP, 3 H, ER, 5 K

Vladimir Guerrero Jr.

2 of 3
World Series - Los Angeles Dodgers v Toronto Blue Jays - Game 2

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has the most head-to-head experience against Glasnow on the Blue Jays roster.

Guerrero owns a .353 batting average in 17 at-bats against the former Tampa Bay Rays hurler.

Three of the six hits Guerrero has against Glasnow were of the extra-base variety. He has two doubles and a homer.

Toronto could use Guerrero to set the tone on the road in the top of the first inning with a hit, or even a long ball.

Guerrero is 3-for-8 in the series, but he hasn't bashed a home run yet, like he did on a regular basis in the ALCS.

A few big hits for Guerrero in Game 3, and in the three games in Los Angeles, will help Toronto get close to its first title since 1993.

Stat Prediction: 2-for-5, double, RBI

Freddie Freeman

3 of 3
World Series - Los Angeles Dodgers v Toronto Blue Jays - Game 2

Freddie Freeman has by far the most plate appearances versus Scherzer on the Dodgers roster.

Freeman has a .200 batting average with three home runs and four doubles in 55 at-bats against Scherzer.

The low batting average is far less significant than the heavy damage Freeman's done at points in his career against the Toronto right-hander.

Freeman only has one hit through two World Series games, but if his bat comes alive behind Shohei Ohtani and Mookie Betts, the Dodgers could win the title at home in Game 5.

A big extra-base, especially in the first five innings against Scherzer, would do wonders for the Dodgers to create momentum inside their home ballpark.

Stat Prediction: 2-for-5, double, 2 RBI
