Jayden Daniels' Injury Status Reportedly 'Up in the Air' for Week 9 vs. Seahawks
Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels could be forced to miss more time as he recovers from a hamstring injury.
While Daniels was already ruled out for Week 8 against the Kansas City Chiefs, Adam Schefter of ESPN reported he could also stay on the sideline in Week 9 against the Seattle Seahawks.
"His status is up in the air right now," Schefter said on Monday Night Countdown. "I was told today it's possible but the team is not ready to commit right now one way or another. So we'll see Marcus Mariota start tonight. It's certainly possible that Mariota will be playing again on Sunday night against the Seattle Seahawks.

"Daniels had a knee injury earlier in the year, has the hamstring injury now. The team is going to be very careful in using Jayden Daniels and whether or not he can be back Sunday."
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport initially reported that Daniels suffered a "low-grade hamstring strain" during last Sunday's Week 7 loss to the Dallas Cowboys.
Commanders coach Dan Quinn confirmed Thursday that Daniels would sit out Monday's matchup with the Chiefs.
Quinn said the decision was made so that Daniels could spend the week focusing on rehab in the hopes of returning ahead of a Week 9 matchup against Seattle.
Injuries have so far derailed Daniels' hopes of building on a 2024 Offensive Rookie of the Year campaign that saw him start 20 straight contests while leading the Commanders as far as the NFC Championship game.
Daniels' sophomore season injury issues started when he suffered a knee sprain during a Week 2 loss at the Green Bay Packers.
He sat out two games before returning in Week 5, only to suffer his most recent injury in Week 7 at the Cowboys.
When available, Daniels has completed 61 percent of his passes for 1,031 passing yards with eight touchdowns and an interception while adding 211 yards and a touchdown on the ground.
The Commanders have turned to Marcus Mariota in Daniels' absence. The 32-year-old backup led Washington to a Week 3 win over the visiting Las Vegas Raiders, although he threw an end-zone interception in a Week 4 loss at the Atlanta Hawks.
The Commanders don't have a bye until Week 12, so Quinn will hope sidelining Daniels for this Monday night matchup can give the quarterback enough time to recover from his latest injury.
If Daniels' rehabilitation takes longer than a week, however, the Commanders may need to turn back to Mariota for next Sunday's home game.
