Pete Carroll's Raiders Reportedly Prefer to Wait on Trades, Roster Moves Until 2026

Scott PolacekOct 22, 2025

The 2-5 Las Vegas Raiders seem like an obvious candidate to potentially move players ahead of the Nov. 4 trade deadline, but the AFC West team reportedly may wait until the offseason to change up the roster.

"There's no consensus leaguewide on exactly what the Raiders will do," ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported Wednesday. "Multiple execs told me they believe Las Vegas is open to a deal but is not actively shopping him.

"Another, however, believes the Raiders would prefer to wait until after the season to make any sweeping changes, due in part to the presence of Pete Carroll. The type of offers that roll in over the next two weeks could determine the course of action here."

The "him" Fowler mentioned was wide receiver Jakobi Meyers, who requested a trade before the season started and recently doubled down on his desire.

"Oh, for sure," he said Tuesday when asked if he still wanted to be traded, per ESPN's Ryan McFadden." But I'm a professional at the end of the day. I'm just trying to play good football."

Fowler reported the wide receiver is "drawing interest" from around the league leading up to the trade deadline, which isn't surprising given his recent production.

The North Carolina State product finished last season with 87 catches for 1,027 yards and four touchdowns and has 29 catches for 329 yards in six games this year. He could provide a much-needed boost for teams in need of receiving help, and trading him would allow the Raiders to get something back in return before he is scheduled for free agency next offseason.

However, the Raiders may decide to hold onto him and focus on those "sweeping changes" during the offseason.

This is Carroll's first season as the team's head coach, so he will have a better idea of the overall roster and what Las Vegas needs to do to take strides in the AFC West by the time the offseason arrives.

That could help him make more-informed decisions, although the patience may cost the team the chance to get some draft-pick compensation back for Meyers in what appears to be a lost season following a disappointing start.
