Lions' Jameson Williams Posts Crying Jordan Meme in IG Photo After 0 Catches vs. Bucs

Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams went catchless on two targets in his team's 24-9 home win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday evening.

Williams doesn't seem thrilled about it based on his Instagram story, which includes the infamous "Crying Jordan" meme.

This has been a down year for Williams, who has 17 catches for 289 yards and two touchdowns through seven games. Last year, the ex-Alabama star caught 58 passes for 1,001 yards and 12 scores.

Williams notably hasn't been as big of a part of the offense as he was in 2024, when he averaged 6.1 targets per game. This year, Williams is averaging 4.3 targets per game. In five of the Lions' seven games, Williams has seen no more than five targets. He's had 15 total in the other two combined.

He's certainly popped off when given the chance this year. Of note, Williams just had six catches for 66 yards and a touchdown in a 30-17 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Oct. 12. He also made the most of his four targets in a 52-21 win over the Chicago Bears on Sept. 14, catching two passes for 108 yards and a score.

But the production has certainly been inconsistent, in part because the targets simply aren't there right now. On Monday, it was the Jahmyr Gibbs and Amon-Ra St. Brown show. Gibbs had 218 yards and two touchdowns on 20 touches, and St. Brown had six catches for 86 yards and a touchdown. No one else had more than three targets.

In the end, the Lions are a winning team again, sitting 5-2 and fighting hard for the NFC North crown (and the NFC's No. 1 seed). Detroit will surely need to call upon its No. 2 wideout to get to the mountaintop, even if he isn't a featured piece right now a la Gibbs and St. Brown.

Williams and the Lions have a bye this upcoming week before returning to Detroit to play the Minnesota Vikings on Nov. 2.
