NHL's Avalanche Unveil New Quebec Nordiques Throwback Jerseys in Photos
The Colorado Avalanche are honoring the team's Canadian origins with new alternate jerseys.
The Avs unveiled Thursday a throwback uniform inspired by the Quebec Nordiques, the former NHL franchise that relocated to Denver in 1995.

The Avalanche will wear the new jerseys seven times this season, starting with a home game this Thursday against the Carolina Hurricanes. Puck drop is set for Thursday at 9 p.m. ET.
The Avs will also wear the new jerseys on Nov. 29 against the Montreal Canadiens and on Jan. 3 at the Carolina Hurricanes (the Canes will be wearing their home uniforms).
The sweaters will return on Jan. 12 versus the Toronto Maple Leafs, March 16 against the Pittsburgh Penguins, April 1 versus the Vancouver Canucks and April 11 against the Vegas Golden Knights.
The Avalanche first introduced Nordiques throwback jerseys when the NHL introduced Adidas' Reverse Retro jerseys ahead of the 2020-21 season. The white sweaters featured the "N"-shaped igloo logo, which was worn by the Nordiques from their NHL debut in 1979 to their final season in 1994-95, and a fleur de lis motif inspired by the Quebec flag.
The 2024-25 edition of the jerseys, now produced by Fanatics, display the same features on a blue background.
According to the team, the blue, white and red color palette of the jersey is a nod to the French flag and the province's French-Canadian background.
The new sweaters are part of the Avalanche's celebration of the 30th season since the franchise relocated to Denver.
The Avs are also honoring the milestone with a special logo, which can be seen on center ice at Ball Arena as well as on a players' helmet decal, alongside three separate celebrations of the team's three Stanley Cup championships on Dec. 11, Jan. 23 and March 10.
