Chris Olave Contract Reportedly Pursued by Saints Amid NFL Trade Rumors at Deadline
Chris Olave has found himself in trade speculation ahead of the deadline on Nov. 4, but the New Orleans Saints reportedly aren't interested in parting ways with the wide receiver.
Per The Athletic's Dianna Russini, New Orleans has "been trying to work out a long-term contract" for Olave.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported last week that NFL insiders believe Olave "could be available" at the deadline, among plenty of other players. SNY's Connor Hughes reported this week that Olave was among the New York Giants' trade targets at the deadline.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
After Russini's report on Saturday, it appears the Saints aren't looking to move Olave at all, but rather extend him.
Olave, a first-round pick in 2022 by the Saints, is currently on his rookie contract and is earning $1.5 million for the 2025 season. He has a club option, which the team has already exercised for next year, but then he'll hit free agency if New Orleans doesn't extend him first.
Olave had a promising start to his career, recording 1,000-plus yards in each of his first two seasons. Unfortunately, injuries got in the way of his third campaign. He missed one game after suffering a concussion in Week 6, and later suffered a concussion in Week 9, which ended his season.
He finished the 2024 campaign with 32 receptions for 400 yards and a touchdown. This year, Olave has collected 39 receptions for 342 yards and a touchdown. While his numbers don't jump off the page, he's the team's leading receiver and a key part of the offense.
Olave has left some to be desired through the first few years of his career, but he's still just 25, and the Saints seem to be counting on a breakthrough. If he can finish the year strong, it could lead to a big extension over the offseason.
