Rounding Up The Internet's Best Memes for Aaron Rodgers vs. Joe Flacco 'Icy Hot Bowl'

Adam WellsOct 16, 2025

Thursday Night Football between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cincinnati Bengals will have a special meaning to a certain section of the NFL audience thanks to the age of the starting quarterbacks for both teams.

Aaron Rodgers (40) and Joe Flacco (41) is going to mark just the second time in NFL history that two quarterbacks over the age of 40 start against each other.

It previously happened during the 2020 season when Tom Brady (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) and Drew Brees (New Orleans Saints) played each other three different times.

ESPN's Jeremy Willis noted there was also a 2005 game when then-43-year-old Doug Flutie entered a game in relief of Brady when the New England Patriots were facing the New York Jets, led by 42-year-old Vinny Testaverde.

Earlier this week, Steelers defensive tackle Cameron Heyward joked as Rodgers was preparing to speak with the media that Thursday's matchup will be dubbed the "Icy Hot Bowl."

Now that gameday has arrived with both Rodgers and Flacco ready for their primetime spotlight, the internet had some fun coming up with memes for the "Icy Hot Bowl" showdown between the two former Super Bowl MVPs.

As most people around the age of 40 and older can attest, just being able to get out of bed each morning without letting out an exhaustive sigh or feeling even a twinge of pain anywhere from the neck to knees means it's going to be a good day.

The fact that Rodgers and Flacco are not only getting out of bed with some potential pain points, but then choosing to play in NFL games is no small feat. They have taken steps to ensure defenders aren't really getting close to them.

Rodgers, in particular, is not holding onto the football after the snap. His average time to throw of 2.57 seconds is the second-fastest out of 35 quarterbacks with at least 53 attempts this season. Flacco is 22nd with an average time to throw of 2.81 seconds.

Despite the difference in their time-to-throw numbers, Flacco has only been sacked one more time than Rodgers (10 to nine).

Both quarterbacks could be on the move a lot in Thursday's game. The Browns and Steelers rank first and second in ESPN's pass-rush win rate metric.

If nothing else, there's certainly a marketing deal between Rodgers, Flacco and Icy Hot to be made from this game. Heyward should get a cut of the profits since he first pitched the name.

Rodgers and the Steelers will look to improve their record to 5-1 when they take on Flacco and the Bengals at Paycor Stadium on Thursday night at 8:15 p.m. ET.
