Durant was drafted by the SuperSonics second overall in 2007 and won Rookie of the Year before the team relocated to Oklahoma City ahead of his second season. While there's no longer an NBA team in Seattle, those in the city will always have a soft spot for the SuperSonics, including Naylor.
Naylor and the Mariners are looking to go up 3-0 in the ALCS and get one game closer to their first World Series appearance in franchise history. Seattle won the first game of the series 3-1 before a dominant 10-3 win on Monday.
Naylor, who was traded to the Mariners from the Arizona Diamondbacks before the deadline, has been a welcome addition in Seattle this season. In 54 regular-season games with the Mariners, he had nine home runs, 33 RBI and a .299 batting average.
He's been productive in the postseason so far with a home run, a pair of RBI and a .290 batting average. He had his best game of the playoffs on Monday, going 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBI.
Naylor will look to continue that kind of production on Wednesday, and Durant will be rooting for him.
