Bills' Joe Brady Doubted as Titans HC Candidate After Brian Callahan's Firing
Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Joe Brady's lack of head coaching experience could reportedly jeopardize his chances of receiving an offer to replace Brian Callahan as head coach of the Tennessee Titans.
CBS Sports' Jonathan Jones reported Wednesday that "sources doubt the Titans would go with a 30-something offensive coordinator with no head coach experience after firing Callahan, even if Brady has successfully called plays when Callahan did not as OC."
Callahan served as offensive coordinator for the Cincinnati Bengals for five seasons before making his head coaching debut with the Titans in 2024. He was fired on Monday following a 1-5 start to his second campaign at the helm.

The former Titans coach called plays throughout the 2024 season and through the first three games of the 2025 campaign, although he relinquished those duties to quarterbacks coach Bo Hardegree after Week 3.
That change came after the Titans dropped to 0-3 with a loss to the Indianapolis Colts, which featured a costly delay-of-game penalty after the offense took too long to decide between a fourth-down attempt and a field goal.
Callahan went on to coach three more games before he was dismissed and replaced by interim coach Mike McCoy. Hardegree is currently set to continue calling plays under the interim leadership.
Brady earned buzz as a head coaching candidate last offseason after the Bills recorded 12 separate 30-point outings last season behind an MVP campaign from quarterback Josh Allen.
He interviewed for the New Orleans Saints' head coaching vacancy before removing his name from consideration and choosing to stay with the Bills for 2025.
Through Week 6 of the 2025 season, the Bills offense has once more been dominant under Brady, ranking third with 378 total yards and fourth with 27.8 points per game.
Those might sound like attractive numbers for a Titans offense currently ranked 32nd with 232 total yards and 31st with 13.8 points per game— but the Bengals also ran one of the top offenses in the NFL under Callahan before he left to take the Titans job.
A former NFL coach currently in a coordinator role, such as Washington Commanders offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury, Minnesota Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores or Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy, could provide extensive resumes if the Titans decide to seek a more experienced leader to guide Cam Ward through his second NFL season.
For now McCoy and Hardegree will look to lead the Titans into a Week 7 matchup with the New England Patriots this Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.
