Jets' Aaron Glenn Sought Advice from NFL Icon Bill Parcells amid 0-6 Start to Season
New York Jets head coach Aaron Glenn told reporters on Monday that he reached out to his mentor, legendary former head coach Bill Parcells, after his team's brutal 0-6 start to the season.
"I know it's tough being 0-6," he added. "But when it comes to yesterday's game there were a number of improvements I wanted our guys to understand we're going to build on."
Those improvements surely weren't on the offensive side of the ball. In Sunday's 13-11 loss, the Jets managed just 82 yards of total offense and had an astonishing negative-10 yards in the passing game. It's hard to fathom how that second stat is even possible in the modern NFL.

Quarterback Justin Fields finished 9-of-17 through the air for 45 yards, but he took nine sacks that lost a total of 55 yards.
Glenn initially was irritated when asked if the team would consider benching Fields after that performance, but acknowledged Monday that the quarterback regressed against the Broncos.
"When you look at what Justin did, the games that he played—listen, I didn't think he was bad at all. I actually thought he did some pretty good things in those four games. In this fifth game, he took a step back," he told reporters. "I'm with you guys 100 percent. And we can't have that. And we have to get better than that. And he knows that. And he knows that better than anyone. So I don't think you try to bench a player after having one true bad game. Because I thought the other games he played fairly well."
It's hard to imagine Parcells having too much patience with a quarterback after a performance like Fields offered on Sunday. If Fields doesn't step it up, Tyrod Taylor is waiting in the wings.
And if the Jets don't show signs of improvement, and soon, it may be Glenn who is ultimately replaced.
