Cubs Eliminated from MLB Playoff Bracket as Fans Rip Offense in NLDS Loss to Brewers

Taylyn Hadley Oct 11, 2025

The Chicago Cubs were eliminated from the National League Division Series with a 3–1 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers on the road Saturday in a win-or-go-home Game 5.

The No. 1 Brewers advanced to the NL Championship Series, where they will face the defending World Series champion, No. 3 Los Angeles Dodgers.

Milwaukee was quick to troll Chicago after the win by breaking out an "L" flag, an ode to the Cubs' tradition of Flying the W after wins.

The Cubs' only RBI came on a Seiya Suzuki home run, while the lineup went a combined 4-of-31 at the plate.

Meanwhile, Milwaukee's Brice Turang, William Contreras and Andrew Vaughn each hit home runs, while Caleb Durbin went a perfect 2-for-2 at the plate.

Fans ripped the Cubs after their offense failed to produce in the Game 5 loss, preventing them from advancing to the NLCS.

Contreras opened the scoring for the Brewers in the bottom of the first, launching a 389-foot home run off Drew Pomeranz to ignite the home crowd and give Milwaukee a 1-0 lead.

The advantage was short-lived, as Suzuki answered in the top of the second with a solo homer to tie the game at one and quiet the crowd.

Vaughn reclaimed the lead for Milwaukee in the bottom of the fourth, launching a 383-foot homer off Daniel Palencia to make it 2-1. Later, in the seventh, Turang crushed his first career postseason home run — a 416-foot shot to center — extending Milwaukee's lead to 3-1.

Game 1 of the NLCS between the Brewers and the Dodgers is set for Monday, giving Los Angeles several days of rest after defeating Philadelphia on Thursday.
