Bodybuilder Varinder Ghuman Dies At 42 After Suffering Heart Attack

Bodybuilder Varinder Singh Ghuman has died at the age of 42.

Ghuman had a sudden cardiac arrhythmia while under general anesthesia during a hospital visit in which he was treated for a shoulder injury, per TMZ Sports.

Ghuman's nephew confirmed the news.

The hospital released a statement on Thursday.

"Fortis Hospital deeply regrets this unfortunate loss and extends heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and his numerous fans," the statement read, via TMZ Sports.

Ghuman became the first vegetarian bodybuilding competitor and earned his International Fitness and Bodybuilding Federation (IFBB) pro card before he was named Mr. India in 2009, per Greg Patuto of Generation Iron. He was also the Mr. Asia runner-up that same year.

Ghuman went on to work with bodybuilding icon Arnold Schwarzenegger, operating as a brand ambassador for his health products in Asia (via TMZ Sports).

He eventually took roles in several films, with his acting career starting in 2012. His last movie appearance came in 2023.
