Breece Hall Addresses NFL Trade Rumors, Says He Wants to Stay with Jets at Deadline

Adam WellsOct 10, 2025

In the midst of a strong rebound season, Breece Hall is hoping to remain with the New York Jets beyond the trade deadline.

Asked by reporters about being mentioned as a potential trade candidate, Hall said in no uncertain terms he wants to stay where he is.

"I'm here, I wanna be here. I wanna be a New York Jet," Hall told the media.

Hall's name was popping up in trade speculation throughout the offseason. The Jets didn't really address the position in the draft or free agency. Kene Nwangwu, who had 27 total carries in his first four seasons, was brought back on a one-year deal.

Jets head coach Aaron Glenn dismissed any trade talk around Hall when he was asked about it during the preseason.

"We have like three good running backs, and I keep saying that," Glenn said. "Listen, they all have different skill sets that we're going to utilize. And that does not mean that I'm trading Breece. OK? Does not! So, I'm going to say that right now. I just like having three good guys. Hell, I wish I had more, but we don't."

Even amid the team's 0-5 start, the Jets don't seem to be shopping Hall at this point. ESPN's Rich Cimini reported on Oct. 5 the team has "given no indication they want to deal Hall."

It's possible that stance could change if the Jets continue to lose games and want to focus their energy on 2026 and beyond, but Hall is making himself an invaluable part of the offense.

Hall has 351 rushing yards on 66 carries and 150 receiving yards on 17 catches. He ranks eighth in the NFL with 501 yards from scrimmage.

Of course, Hall's current success could also be a problem for the Jets because he is in a contract year. Given where they currently sit, investing a significant contract in a running back may not be the best use of resources.

It's a tricky spot for everyone to be in, but at least Hall is fully committed to the Jets and is playing arguably the best football of his career for them right now.

Hall and the Jets will go for their first win of the season on Sunday when they play the Denver Broncos at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.
