Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
"Women's sports is a movement, and I admire and respect the work that the team and the NWSL continues to do to grow the sport and empower future generations of athletes. Boston Legacy FC is building something special, and we're proud to be a part of what's next."
Boston was granted an NWSL expansion franchise in 2023, and Boston Legacy FC are slated to begin play in 2026, along with fellow expansion club Denver Summit FC.
Aside from Williams, Boston Legacy FC have an NFL link in that they will play their first NWSL season at the New England Patriots' Gillette Stadium before moving to White Stadium once renovations are completed.
Williams, 23, is in the midst of his second NFL season after the Bears selected him first overall in the 2024 NFL draft.
Chicago went a disappointing 5-12 during his debut campaign, but Williams performed well for a rookie quarterback, completing 62.5 percent of his passes for 3,541 yards, 20 touchdowns and just six interceptions.
The former USC standout and 2022 Heisman Trophy winner has the Bears off to a solid 2-2 start so far this season, putting them in the thick of the NFC playoff race.
Through four games, Williams is completing 62.3 percent of his passing attempts for 927 yards, eight touchdowns and two picks, and he has also rushed for 110 yards and a score.
While Williams is looking to bring Chicago its first Super Bowl win since the famed 1985 season, he is also hoping to be part of a major women's soccer championship in Boston.
Beantown previously had an NWSL team in the Boston Breakers, but they folded in 2018, and never managed to win an NWSL title.
