David Ross Expresses Interest in Braves Manager Job, 'Atlanta Would Be Amazing'
Former Chicago Cubs manager David Ross is interested in returning to the Atlanta Braves now that Brian Snitker has stepped down, he told Charles Odum of the Associated Press.
Ross spent four seasons with the Braves from 2009 to 2012 in the middle of his 15-year career as an MLB catcher.
He later managed the Cubs, with whom he won the 2016 World Series as a player, from 2020 to 2023.

"I'd love to manage again," Ross told Odum on Thursday. "Obviously, Atlanta would be amazing, but there's nothing to really elaborate on."
Ross continued, per Odum: "I don't want to talk about something that doesn't have any legs yet. Hopefully, my name pops up but we will wait and see on that."
The Braves announced Wednesday that Snitker would be transitioning to an advisory role after parts of 10 seasons and a 2021 World Series title with the club.
Atlanta posted a 76-86 record and missed the postseason for the first time in eight years in Snitker's final managerial campaign with the club.
Ross was hired by the Cubs in 2020 as Joe Maddon's replacement despite a lack of prior coaching experience. He led Chicago to a 262-284 record (.480 win percentage) with one postseason appearance before he was fired ahead of Craig Counsell's hiring in November 2023.
The former Cubs manager recently told The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal that he wasn't interviewed for any of the three managerial jobs that opened last season, but that he "badly" wants to return to a role as manager.
"It's an itch that hasn't gone away," Ross told Rosenthal.
Ross also told Rosenthal he believes he still "had a players' mentality" in his first stint as manager, and that he would have a more balanced and less emotional approach to the job if given another shot.
If Ross' interest in Atlanta doesn't pan out, he could potentially look outside the Braves organization for his next shot at managing. The Baltimore Orioles, Los Angeles Angels, Minnesota Twins, San Francisco Giants, Texas Rangers and Washington Nationals also currently have managerial vacancies ahead of the 2026 season.
