A.J. Brown Trade Reportedly Could Be Entertained by Eagles During 2026 NFL Offseason
Only four games into the 2025 NFL season, the future of Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown is a topic of discussion around the league, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.
Pointing to Brown's three-year, $96 million contract, Fowler noted that trading the three-time Pro Bowler would carry an additional cost for Philly. Still, people inside the NFL aren't ruling the idea out.
"Some execs I spoke to this week don't expect Philadelphia to trade Brown in-season but said that it could be something to entertain in the offseason," the insider wrote. "It's sort of the worst-kept secret inside the league that Brown's love-hate relationship with Philly's passing game bubbles to the surface from time to time. He's a true competitor and wants to be great. With that comes emotion and inevitable frustration."

Brown most recently caught the attention of fans with a post on social media following the Eagles' 31-25 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He finished with two receptions for seven yards on nine targets and after the game quoted a Bible passage that read: "If you're not welcomed, not listened to, quietly withdraw. Don't make a scene. Shrug your shoulders and be on your way."
Addressing the situation Wednesday, the 28-year-old denied he was alluding to anyone in the Eagles organization. He added he trusts in quarterback Jalen Hurts:
It would be easier to dismiss this all out of hand if it was the first time Brown was perceived as directing a subtle shot at his own team.
But last December, the decorated wideout bluntly answered that Philly needed to improve its "passing" with the aerial attack sputtering a bit. That prompted a response similar to the one he delivered Wednesday:
Having covered Brown across four seasons, The Athletic's Zach Berman described him as "media savvy."
"He knows how his words will be interpreted and how his silence will be interpreted," Berman said.
This latest drama could prove to be the proverbial nothingburger. The Eagles are off to a 4-0 start as they try to defend their Super Bowl title, and there are a lot of games left in the season.
However, there's no question Brown's production (14 catches for 151 yards and a touchdown) is trailing well behind his usual standard. Should that continue, he may come to believe there are greener pastures for him next spring. The Eagles, for their part, might grow increasingly fatigued if the relationship between their QB and No. 1 receiver remains an ongoing source of speculation.
