George Pickens Didn't Know NFL Games Could End In Ties Before Cowboys vs. Packers
Dallas Cowboys wide receiver George Pickens was left baffled after Sunday night's game against the Green Bay Packers ended in a 40-40 tie.
Pickens told Jane Slater of NFL Network after the game that he was expecting a second overtime period to start because he didn't know NFL games could end in a tie.
"I've never been a part of a tie in my life. I didn't even know football worked like that," Pickens said. "I thought we just would start another quarter right now and keep going. But a tie? That's a first time, yeah."

NFL Draft Sleeper Picks Who Could Become ROTY ⭐
In fairness to Pickens, this is the first tie he's experienced in his NFL career. The Pittsburgh Steelers' last tie was in 2021, and he arrived to the league a year later as a second-round draft pick. He was traded to the Cowboys this offseason.
Pickens had his best game of the season on Sunday, leading Dallas with eight catches for 134 yards and two touchdowns. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough to get the Cowboys their second win of the season, as the Packers tied things up with a last-second field goal as time expired in overtime.
In his first year in Dallas, Pickens leads the team with 300 receiving yards and four touchdowns. He's become the focal point of the team's passing attack in the absence of star receiver CeeDee Lamb, who is nursing an ankle sprain.
The 2025 season is the final year of Pickens' rookie contract, but he could have a good chance to stay with the Cowboys for a while longer. Team owner Jerry Jones indicated during a radio appearance on Tuesday that he would be interested in signing the 24-year-old to a contract extension.
"He's an exemplary teammate. He's exemplary in his work preparation," Jones said of Pickens. "You can see the results of that out there Sunday."
Pickens will surely try to avoid his second career tie when the Cowboys return to action in Week 5 against the New York Jets.
