Rocco Baldelli Fired by Twins After 7 Seasons as Manager, Team Went 70-92 in 2025
The Minnesota Twins announced Monday they are firing manager Rocco Baldelli after the team disappointed during the 2025 season, finishing 70-92.
Baldelli, 44, spent seven seasons as the team's manager, posting a 527-505 record with three postseason appearances. The team missed the playoffs for two straight seasons, however.

With the regular season ending on Sunday, the watch for managers on the hot seat has already begun (and claimed a few victims):
Firing Baldelli may not be seen as a fix for Minnesota's woes, however. In an early September poll conducted by The Athletic, 78.7 percent of fans blamed the team's struggles on the Pohlads' ownership, followed by 11.1 percent blaming the front office, 7.3 percent blaming the lineup and just 2.5 percent blaming Baldelli.
Granted, Baldelli wasn't exactly seen as an elite manager. He was given a "C" grade by 48.2 percent of fans, followed by 29.1 percent giving him a "B" and 17 percent assigning him a "D" grade. So while Baldelli wasn't seen as the main issue in Minnesota, he wasn't necessarily viewed as the savior either.
After the team went 12-25 down the stretch last year and failed to reach the postseason, Baldelli was likely managing for his job in 2025. In that light—and given the record the team posted this year—Monday's news doesn't come as a major surprise.
So now the Twins will now undergo a managerial search as they look to rebound from a pair of disappointing seasons. Given how ownership and the front office are polling in Minnesota these days, however, it probably wasn't high on the list of changes that fans desire.
