Eagles' Jalen Carter Fined for Taunting Penalty After FG Block in Win over Rams

Zach BacharSep 27, 2025

Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Jalen Carter was fined $11,593 by the NFL for taunting during the team's 33-26 win over the Los Angeles Rams in Week 3, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

After the Eagles blocked a field-goal attempt by the Rams with just under nine minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, Carter was seen gesturing towards Los Angeles' sideline as he ran off the field.

The 24-year-old was also penalized for the incident during the game.

It wasn't the only impressive special teams play from Philadelphia late in the contest, as it closed out the win with another blocked field goal that was returned for a touchdown on the final play of the fourth quarter.

The late-game heroics capped off a 19-point comeback in the second half, as the Eagles trailed 26-7 early in the third quarter. Carter finished with three tackles and two quarterback hits in the victory.

The former first-round pick has now accrued fines in each of his two appearances to open the 2025 season, as he was also fined $57,222 after spitting on Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott in Week 1. He was subsequently ejected from the season-opening NFC East clash.

While Carter's latest fine isn't as hefty as his initial one, he'll want to avoid another taunting infraction for the rest of the year. According to the NFL's fines and appeals schedule, taunting results in a $11,593 fine following a first offense and $17,389 for a second offense.

Carter has quickly established himself as a key piece of Philadelphia's defensive front, as he's coming off a 2024 season in which he earned Pro Bowl honors by racking up 42 tackles, 16 quarterback hits, 12 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks and two forced fumbles.

This year, he's amassed five tackles and five quarterback hits across two games.
