Eagles' Jalen Carter Denies Rumor He Was Wearing Jared Verse's Chain After Rams Game
Philadelphia Eagles star defensive tackle Jalen Carter told reporters Thursday that the No. 8 chain he was seen wearing after Philly's 33-26 win over the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday did not belong to Jared Verse.
There was speculation that perhaps Carter and Verse had a prior bet going, given that Verse wears No. 8 and the two had an interesting exchange before January's playoff matchup between the teams:

Carter appeared to be wearing the chain before the game, however.
So if there was any secret bet going—which again, Carter is seemingly denying—it would have been from last season. The Eagles have now beaten the Rams three times in the past two years, and Sunday's dramatic matchup very well could be a playoff preview.
It's hard to imagine a more memorable showdown than the one we just saw, however. Sunday's game included the Eagles overcoming a 26-7 deficit, the Birds finally opening up the passing game after an extremely conservative (some might say boring) offensive approach to start the season and two blocked field goals in the fourth quarter, including the game-winning play by Jordan Davis.
Carter had the first of the blocked field goals to go along with three tackles and two quarterback hits. Verse registered six tackles (two for loss), a sack and a quarterback hit off the edge.
The win moved the Eagles to 3-0 on the season. Including last year's postseason, the Birds have now won 18 of their last 19 games.
