Cowboys' Jadeveon Clowney Expects to Play vs. Bears in Week 3 After Signing Contract
Jadeveon Clowney isn't wasting much time getting on the field for the Dallas Cowboys.
The pass-rusher told reporters Monday he plans to play in Sunday's Week 3 game against the Chicago Bears after NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo reported he agreed to a one-year, $3.5 million deal that can be worth up to $6 million.
The anxiety to suit up right away for the Cowboys doesn't come as a significant surprise considering his agent, Kennard McGuire, said "playing for the Dallas Cowboys was the priority Day 1 upon his release from the [Carolina] Panthers," per ESPN's Todd Archer.

For his part, Clowney highlighted the opportunity to play for such a high-profile franchise and said, "I got seven primetime games to prove and show the world. That was my whole thought on coming down here. I get to play primetime and put myself out there again. Sky is the limit again for me. I don't feel like I'm getting old. Terence Crawford just beat somebody at (37) years old. I got a lot left in the tank."
Clowney, 32, is a three-time Pro Bowler but is well past his last selection.
His last Pro Bowl nod came in 2018 for the Houston Texans, and he has since bounced around with the Seattle Seahawks, Tennessee Titans, Cleveland Browns, Baltimore Ravens and Panthers.
The South Carolina product appeared in 14 games last season for Carolina and finished with 5.5 sacks.
Dallas could certainly use the pass-rushing help after it traded Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers this offseason. The defense was nowhere to be found during the fourth quarter of Sunday's overtime victory over the New York Giants and ended up allowing 450 yards and three touchdowns through the air from Russell Wilson.
Ideally for the Cowboys, Clowney will help make up for some of the production lost by Parsons even if it isn't realistic to expect him to be that type of elite playmaker. And it will all start Sunday when he attempts to chase down Caleb Williams when facing the Bears.
