Jadeveon Clowney, Cowboys Reportedly Unlikely to Reach Contract After FA Visit

Zach BacharSep 10, 2025

A contract agreement between the Dallas Cowboys and free-agent pass-rusher Jadeveon Clowney doesn't seem to be a likely possibility.

According to Clarence Hill Jr. of All City DLLS, the Cowboys are "probably not going to" sign Clowney.

NFL insider Josina Anderson previously reported that the 32-year-old was visiting with Dallas on Wednesday.

Clowney was planning to meet with the Cowboys and undergo a physical, per Anderson. Both sides will stay in contact moving forward.

Dallas could be looking to fortify its front seven in order to help make up for the absence of Micah Parsons, who was dealt to the Green Bay Packers in a blockbuster trade on Aug. 28.

The Cowboys finished with one sack and five pressures during a season-opening 24-20 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. Dallas' 36 percent pass-rush win rate also ranked just No. 18 among all NFL teams in Week 1, via ESPN.

Clowney is an experienced veteran, as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2014 draft has 127 career starts under his belt.

The three-time Pro Bowler spent the 2024 season with the Carolina Panthers. He amassed 46 tackles, 22 pressures, nine tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks and four passes defended in 14 games.

Clowney was released by Carolina in May.

It's worth noting that he's only one season removed from a 2023 campaign with the Baltimore Ravens in which he recorded 9.5 sacks in 17 appearances.

As the Cowboys continue to search for defensive line help, they might be moving on from their pursuit of Clowney.
