Chiefs' Andy Reid Gives Xavier Worthy Injury Update After Travis Kelce Collision
The Kansas City Chiefs appear to be taking a patient approach in Xavier Worthy's recovery from a shoulder injury suffered when the wideout collided with star tight end Travis Kelce in Friday's season opener against the Los Angeles Chargers.
Chiefs head coach Andy Reid provided an update on Worthy's status while speaking to reporters on Monday.
"I know Xavier is the big question. He's rehabbing and working his shoulder. We'll just see where it goes, day-by-day here. We'll see where we end up," Reid said.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport noted that Reid's "day-to-day" designation for Worthy is "an indication that the plan is to rehab and attempt to play with a brace -- rather than immediate surgery."
Worthy went down just three snaps into Friday's game in Sao Paulo, Brazil, when he collapsed after running into Kelce on a third-down play. He was helped off the field before being ruled out for the game, and Rapoport reported that he suffered a dislocated shoulder.
The Chiefs went on to lose to the Chargers 27-21, snapping a seven-game win streak against their AFC West rivals dating back to 2021. No Kansas City receiver reached the 100-yard mark, and star quarterback Patrick Mahomes was 24-of-39 for 258 yards and one touchdown.
Worthy was expected to be a focal point in the Chiefs' passing attack, so losing him for any amount of time would be a detriment to the team amid a tough early-season slate.
Kansas City will be back in action in a Super Bowl LIX rematch against the defending champion Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, and it remains to be seen if Worthy will be available to help his team bounce back from its Week 1 loss.
