According to Vanessa Etienne of People, Lil Jon competed in the Men's Physique Master's Over 45 category at the Muscle Beach championship, which is a popular event for amateur bodybuilders.

Lil Jon's personal trainer, Jay Galvin, congratulated the rapper in an Instagram post, writing: "My bro @liljon came straight off a plane to his first show ever @musclebeachvenice and took 3rd place!!!!"

Regarding his body transformation and decision to take part in competitive bodybuilding, Lil Jon told reporters:

"It's been a lot physically, just in the gym, dedication, eating, focus. I'm winning just by being here and changing my lifestyle, mentally and physically. One of the things I hope is that I can be an inspiration to so many people who say, 'Oh, I don't have time. I can't do it.' If I can do it, then you can do it too."

The Atlanta-born Lil Jon is no stranger to major awards like the one he received at Muscle Beach, but the bulk of them have come via his music career.

Most notably, Lil Jon won a Grammy in 2005 for best rap/sung collaboration along with Usher and Ludacris for the hit song "Yeah!"

Lil Jon has also won multiple MTV Video Music Awards for "Yeah!" and his other major hit "Turn Down for What."

Unlike some other popular rappers of his time, such as 50 Cent and LL Cool J, Lil Jon was never known for his physique.

However, Lil Jon is now changing the narrative and making an unexpected splash in the fitness world.
