Jalen Hurts Says Photo from Eagles' Super Bowl 57 Loss Is Still His Phone Wallpaper

We know, based on how he feels about wearing the Super Bowl 59 ring, that Jalen Hurts isn't one to dwell on positive moments from the past. But the Philadelphia Eagles quarterback has no problem letting disappointment motivate him.

In a clip from America's Game about the 2024 Eagles season slated to air Wednesday night on NFL Network, Hurts revealed he still has a photo of himself walking off the field after the Super Bowl 57 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs as his phone wallpaper.

"I think there are certain things you hold onto so it can continue to motivate you," Hurts said.

When he arrived at training camp in July, Hurts told reporters he didn't wear the Eagles' Super Bowl ring from their victory over the Chiefs in February at the team's ceremony over the summer because he had "moved on to the new year."

The Super Bowl 57 loss felt like a devastating moment for the Eagles. They were arguably the best team in the NFL during the 2022 season and played a near-perfect game against the Chiefs.

Philadelphia's only real blemishes were a Hurts fumble in the second quarter that was returned for a touchdown by Nick Bolton and James Bradberry's holding call on third-and-8 during the Chiefs' final offensive possession to set up Harrison Butker's game-winning field goal.

Hurts was incredible in the game, throwing for 304 yards, running for 70 yards and accounting for four touchdowns (three rushing). He set Super Bowl records for rushing yards and rushing touchdowns by a quarterback.

Given how fickle the NFL can be, that could have been the closest Hurts came to winning a Super Bowl with the Eagles. Instead, they reshaped their roster and coaching staff after a down 2023 season, building arguably a better squad in 2024 than the team that lost to the Chiefs two years earlier.

Hurts and the Eagles got their revenge by dominating Kansas City in Super Bowl 59 en route to a 40-22 victory. He was named MVP of the game after throwing for 221 yards, running for 72 yards and accounting for three scores.

Whatever Hurts does to motivate himself seems to be working just fine for everyone. He might keep that wallpaper on his phone for the rest of his career given how well things turned out.
