Eagles' A.J. Brown Discusses 2-Hour Workout at 'Most Dangerous Gym in the World'

Julia StumbaughSep 3, 2025

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown reacted to his team's Super Bowl LIX victory last spring by working out in May at a gym referred to on social media as the "most dangerous gym in the world."

Brown described his two-hour workout at New Jersey's Diamond Gym, which has gained fame for a history of training top bodybuilders, in a recent interview with ESPN's Tim McManus.

The Eagles wideout trained in New Jersey with fitness YouTuber Haddy Abdel, who posted about Brown's workout in May.

Abdel told McManus that Brown arrived at the facility this spring by himself and told trainers he was "ready to work."

"He's like, 'I came here for this. I got all the money now. I have everything I've ever wanted in my life,'" Abdel told McManus. "And when you get that, and you taste that, it's easy to get complacent, it's easy to forget where you came from. He wanted to remember where he came from."

McManus went on to detail Brown's workout, which reportedly concluded with him deadlifting around 600 pounds.

Brown told McManus that he reached back to his childhood in a trailer in Starkville, Mississippi, as motivation to complete the workout.

"I had to go to a place, I had to go to my childhood, had to think about some s--- I went through," Brown told McManus. "I got everything I ever wanted in life, bro. I had to go back down to my childhood, me living in that trailer, starving bro. Then I thought about [my] son. I've got a little boy, he motivated me. I said, 'I'm not going to give up with my son watching me.'"

Brown, who went viral during the 2024 season for reading a motivational book on the sidelines of playoff games, publicly spoke about his desire to start working again just days after the Eagles clinched a Super Bowl LIX win over the Kansas City Chiefs.

"I tried to feel how everyone made it seem to be a champion and unfortunately it was short lived.. two days to be exact lol," Brown wrote in a Feb. 12 Instagram post. "I've never been a champion at the highest level before but I thought my hard work would be justified by winning it all. It wasn't."

Brown continued, "I love putting smiles on peoples faces, don't get me wrong but it just wasn't what I thought it would be. It's the journey that I love the most. BACK 2 Work!"

Three months later, that journey brought Brown to a bodybuilding gym. He'll hope the extra work pays off when the Eagles open the 2025 season on Thursday night against the visiting Dallas Cowboys.
