Seth Rollins walked out of Clash in Paris with the World Heavyweight Championship still in his possession, and Becky Lynch is a big reason why.
The women's Intercontinental champion delivered a low blow to CM Punk as the challenger was positioned to hit Go To Sleep on Rollins for a second time.
Lynch's involvement almost immediately led fans to wonder whether this is paving the way for AJ Lee's long awaited return to WWE. Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp fanned those flames a bit when he reported Sunday the former Divas champion "has in fact been brought up in numerous pitches internally in WWE."
"We can't confirm an AJ Lee return is a go, but sources in WWE said there has been more traction on it of late than in previous years," a subsequent Fightful report said.
Punk may have made a telling gesture as well when he was walking up the entrance ramp to the back. He took a fan's sign that said "bring back AJ Lee" and read it before shrugging his shoulders.
Lee hasn't wrestled a televised match since March 2015. While she spent a few years with Women of Wrestling, she didn't step back inside the ring during her time there.
In the event she doesn't want to compete full time, circumstances at Clash in Paris provide a perfect setup for the 38-year-old to make a one-off appearance, either at Wrestlepalooza later this month or Crown Jewel in October.
Reigns Written Off to Begin 'Street Fighter' Filming
Real-life matters played a role in Roman Reigns' massive beatdown at the hands of Bronson Reed and Bron Breakker at Clash in Paris.
The Original Tribal Chief beat Reed in their singles match but left the French capital in a much worse state than his opponent. At one point in the post-match attack, Reed delivered the Tsunami while Reigns was strapped to a backboard.
According to PWInsider.com's Mike Johnson, this was very deliberate from the WWE creative team. Reigns will start filming his scenes for Street Fighter in September and could be done around Sept. 26.
There's now a storyline explanation for why The OTC is missing on WWE programming for the next few weeks.
Reigns teamed with Jey Uso to beat Breakker and Reed at SummerSlam and now he has another win over the new faction formed by his former advisor, Paul Heyman. He also gained some satisfaction by choking Heyman out at Clash in Paris.
However, it's clear that Reigns' business here is far from over, and he'll be looking to return the favor to Breakker and Reed down the road.
Lesnar Still Planned for Wrestlepalooza
Fans hopeful to see Brock Lesnar make a surprise appearance in Paris were disappointed. John Cena beat Logan Paul and there were no post-match shenanigans. Cena celebrated his victory and said goodbye to his fans in France.
Fightful (via Randall Ortman of Cageside Seats) reported the WWE creative team didn't factor Lesnar into any firm plans for Clash in Paris. The Beast Incarnate is expected to appear on multiple episodes of SmackDown and Wrestlepalooza.
Lesnar and Cena will obviously be crossing paths sooner or later after what unfolded at SummerSlam. We also know Cena's last match with WWE will be at Saturday Night's Main Event on Dec. 13. The 17-time world champion will rekindle his rivalry with Lesnar at some point between now and then.
Wrestlepalooza is the most likely option, and Friday night's SmackDown should confirm whether that's the case.
