The 32-year-old suffered the injury after fouling a ball off his foot during San Diego's 4-3 loss to the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday.
Padres manager Mike Shildt revealed that Bogaerts will spend a week in a walking boot before his foot is evaluated again, per Dennis Lin of The Athletic.
"At the moment, medical, including Bogey most importantly, doesn't feel like this is going to be season-ending," Shildt said, via Lin. "It's just going to be some period of time, and (I) don't like to put any timetable on it."
The four-time All-Star is in the midst of his third season in San Diego after spending the first 10 years of his career with the Boston Red Sox. Bogaerts is hitting .262 with 10 home runs, 29 doubles, 48 walks and 49 RBI in 131 games. He's also racked up a career-high 20 stolen bases.
Bogaerts has remained relatively healthy throughout his career, although he missed over seven weeks during the 2024 season due to a fracture in his left shoulder.
The Padres will look to remain in the National League postseason picture and ensure that their starting shortstop can return in 2025, currently holding the No. 2 NL wild card spot with a 75-59 record.
San Diego also sits two games back from the Los Angeles Dodgers for the NL West lead.
The Padres recalled Mason McCoy in a corresponding move while placing Bogaerts on the injured list, but Jose Iglesias will likely be the top option to assume the starting shortstop job moving forward.
