Micah Parsons' Packers Contract Guarantees, Bonuses, More Detailed in Report

Julia StumbaughAug 29, 2025

Micah Parsons reportedly won't have to wait until his record-breaking extension with the Green Bay Packers kicks in ahead of the 2026 season to start getting paid.

Parsons is receiving a $44 million signing bonus as part of his new contract, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

According to Pelissero, the four-year extension Parsons signed following his trade from the Dallas Cowboys includes $186 million in base salary with an additional $2 million in incentives and escalators.

Including the year remaining on Parsons' previous deal with the Cowboys, the linebacker will be paid $210 million over the next five years, per Pelissero.

Parsons reposted Pelissero's breakdown with a note thanking his agent David Mulugheta.

Parsons' deal also includes more than $72 million in fully guaranteed option bonuses in 2026 and 2027, per Pelissero.

The linebacker is then set to make more than $80 million in base salary over the back half of the extension, according to Pelissero.

He is also set to receive a $200,000 bonus for each game in which he is active as well as a $250,000 annual workout bonus, per Pelissero.

ESPN's Adam Schefter previously reported that Parsons' contract included $120 million in fully guaranteed money, the highest total ever received by a non-quarterback.

Placing almost a quarter of Parsons' new money in the signing bonus will allow the Packers to spread the impact of his contract over the next five years.

The five-year breakdown averages out to $42 million per year, which would place Parsons just above Pittsburgh Steelers edge rusher TJ Watt as the highest-paid non-quarterback in the NFL in terms of average annual salary, per Over the Cap.

The NFL salary cap has increased by almost $24 million between the 2024 and 2025 seasons, and climbed by more than $100 million since 2018.

If the cap ceiling continues rising as expected, paying that much for a top defender who turned 26 in May could look like a good deal for the Packers by the time the first year of Parsons' extension kicks in next fall.

Parsons is set to make his Green Bay debut when the Packers kick off the regular season on Sept. 7 against the Detroit Lions.
