Jerry Jones Says Cowboys Could Trade Picks in Micah Parsons Return for Immediate Help
The Dallas Cowboys made one of the biggest trades in recent memory on Thursday, and they might not be done making moves.
After sending star pass rusher Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers for a pair of first-round picks and defensive tackle Kenny Clark, owner Jerry Jones hinted at the team flipping the picks for talent.
"We could use those picks to go get somebody right now," Jones told reporters on Thursday. "Don't rule that out."

The trade came after an offseason of contract disputes, and Jones ultimately wasn't willing to pay Parsons the figure he was looking for. Instead, the Packers awarded him a four-year, $188 million deal, making him the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history.
Jones believes the Cowboys are in a better position now than they would have been had they inked Parsons to a long-term deal.
"We have just decided it was in the best interest of our team … and we can win, in our minds, more than had we gone the other route and signed him," Jones said.
The trade will likely sting for a while for Cowboys fans, considering Parsons is one of the best defensive players in the NFL and was just entering his prime, but Jones could make fans happy by putting together a Super Bowl-caliber roster.
The first two draft picks could go a long way if the Cowboys decide to take a win-now approach. The team also freed up $19 million of 2025 cap space, per Spotrac, and has an estimated $42 million available. Plus, Dallas will have more to spend in the future since it doesn't have to pay Parsons the lucrative contract he would have commanded had he stayed.
With Parsons on the roster, the Cowboys never made it farther than the divisional round of the playoffs. Jones thinks that things will start to change now.
"This gives us a chance to be a better team than we've had the last several years," Jones said.
