49ers' John Lynch Dismisses Jauan Jennings Trade Request, Talks WR's Injury Status
San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch was unequivocal when addressing the trade request from wide receiver Jauan Jennings.
"He asked for it and we've moved on," Lynch told reporters Wednesday. "We're not doing that."
The GM also refuted the idea that Jennings' lingering calf injury is connected in any way to his frustration at the lack of a contract extension. He said the wideout's status for Week 1 against the Seattle Seahawks is still up in the air:

Jennings is in the last year of his contract, one that looks like quite a bargain as the receiver market continues to climb. He's earning a $1.2 million base salary, and his overall payout reaches $7.5 million.
That's pretty low when No. 2 wideouts are getting upwards of $28 million now.
Jennings' track record, or lack thereof, is undoubtedly a factor behind San Francisco's resistance to meet his asking price so far. In 2024, he caught 77 passes for 975 yards and six touchdowns. He had one more reception and 12 fewer receving yard combined from 2021-23.
In general, the Niners might also be a little wary of giving one of their receivers a raise after extending Brandon Aiyuk for four years and $120 million, only to watch him suffer a torn ACL after seven games.
Tim Kawakami of the San Francisco Standard reported on Sunday that "there is growing frustration on both sides as Jennings continues to miss practice with a calf injury and 49ers management continues to show little interest in restructuring his contract and giving him a big pay raise for the second time in a little over a year."
The longtime Bay Area writer followed up Tuesday to say little had changed:
As much as Jennings may not like his situation, missing any part of the regular season does nothing to help him.
If the 49ers aren't going to give him the deal he wants, then his only hope is to perform well and wait for free agency next spring. He can't fulfill that objective if he's not on the field.
