US Open Tennis 2025 Results, Winners, Losers and Highlights from Wednesday's Bracket
Jessica Pegula and Emma Navarro had easy afternoons at the 2025 US Open.
Pegula and Navarro, who are two of four American top-10 seeds still alive in the women's singles draw, each won in straight sets on Wednesday afternoon.
Both players have the potential to make deep runs in the tournament. Pegula was a finalist in New York last year and Navarro reached the semifinals in 2024.
Taylor Fritz, the best American male title hopeful, picked up his second win of the tournament in four sets.
Novak Djokovic was also victorious in four sets. He cruised after a stunning first-set tiebreak loss to American Zachary Svajda.
Carlos Alcaraz, Ben Shelton and Aryna Sabalenka all had strong nights in New York. Each player came away victorious in straight sets.

Taylor Fritz and Novak Djokovic each dropped a set before they rebounded and moved on to the third round.
Djokovic fell in a first-set tiebreak to American Zachary Svajda, but then he turned into vintage Djokovic once the second set started.
Fritz responded well after he lost the first set to Lloyd Harris. The top-ranked American male won a second-set tiebreak to level the match and then won the next two sets to capture the victory.
Fritz received a bit of a break in his draw, as No. 30 seed Brandon Nakashima lost to Swiss qualifier Jerome Kym. Fritz plays Kym in the third round.
The biggest upset on the men's side on Wednesday saw No. 12 Casper Ruud fall in five sets to Raphael Collignon.
No. 11 seed Holger Rune and two other seeds in the No. 11-No. 20 were eliminated on Wednesday.
The upsets in the first two rounds mean that Carlos Alcaraz and Ben Shelton, both of whom won on Wednesday night, will not face anyone seeded above No. 20 before the quarterfinals.
Alcaraz and Shelton both won in straight sets on Wednesday night.
The pair of top-six seeds are likely headed to a quarterfinal showdown given the way the draw has broken.
Women's Singles
2 of 2
No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka def. Polina Kudermetova, 7-6 (4), 6-2
No. 4 Jessica Pegula def. Anna Blinkova, 6-1, 6-3
No. 5 Mirra Andreeva def. Anastasia Potapova, 6-1, 6-3

No. 31 Leylah Fernandez def. Elsa Jacquemot, 2-6, 6-3, 6-2
Marketa Vondrousova def. No. 32 McCartney Kessler, 7-6 (7), 6-2
Pegula and Navarro were not on court for long on Wednesday afternoon.
Pegula needed just 64 minutes to take care of Anna Blinkova. The No. 4 seed and 2024 US Open runner-up lost just four games to her opponent.
Navarro, a 2024 US Open semifinalist, needed 76 minutes to beat fellow American Catherine McNally.
If they continue on their current paths, Pegula and Navarro would face each other in the quarterfinals. The winner of that potential match would likely take on top seed Aryna Sabalenka in the semifinals.
However, getting to the final eight will be difficult in both of their draws. Three former major champions and No. 5 seed Mirra Andreeva are all in their quarter.
One of those former major winners, Victoria Azarenka, faces Pegula in the third round.
Any of Wednesday's winners would have to get through top seed Aryna Sabalenka to reach the women's final.
Sabalenka once again won in straight sets on the New York hard court.
The top seed needed an hour to get through the first set, but then she cruised in the second set to pick up another US Open win.
Sabalenka has a far easier path to the quarters than the rest of the players in her half of the draw. That could be an advantage as the tournament goes on and fatigue begins to creep in.
