Tyler Huntley Reportedly Lands Ravens Practice Squad Contract After Browns Release

Julia StumbaughAug 27, 2025

Tyler Huntley is returning to the Baltimore Ravens after one season with the Miami Dolphins.

The Ravens are signing Huntley to their practice squad following his release by the Cleveland Browns, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Wednesday.

Huntley played the first four seasons of his NFL career in Baltimore, where he earned a Pro Bowl nod in 2022.

He started five games for the Dolphins when Tua Tagovailoa was injured last season.

Huntley completed 64.7 percent of his passes for 829 yards with three touchdowns and three interceptions in Miami, adding 135 yards and two touchdowns on 26 carries.

He then spent training camp and the preseason with the Browns.

Head coach Kevin Stefanski handed the ball to Huntley on the last drive of Cleveland's preseason finale, where the quarterback helped get his team in position for a game-winning field goal at the buzzer against the Los Angeles Rams.

The Browns ultimately released Huntley, whose departure alongside the trade of Kenny Pickett solidified the team's quarterback order of starter Joe Flacco followed by rookie backup candidates Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders.

Huntley will now rejoin the quarterback room in Baltimore, where Lamar Jackson and backup Cooper Rush are currently the only signal callers on the 53-man roster following the team's decision to cut Devin Leary.

Having originally signed with the Ravens as an undrafted free agent in 2020, Huntley made two appearances during his rookie season and served as a regular depth option for the team for three following seasons.

His most impactful season with the franchise came in 2022, when he made the Pro Bowl as an injury replacement for Josh Allen. He was ultimately unable to lead the Ravens to playoff victory while Jackson was sidelined by injury.

The Ravens' Super Bowl hopes hinge on another healthy campaign from Jackson, who started 17 games last season for the first time in his NFL career. In case of injury, however, Huntley could once more be called up for a fifth stint on Baltimore's active roster.
