Dolphins GM Chris Grier Talks Hateful Messages from Fans After 2024 Struggles

Grier did say that his in-person interactions with fans have generally been cordial and he doesn't typically take things personally, but "there's a line, and this is way past it."
After making the playoffs in 2022 and 2023, the Dolphins got off to a rough start last season that torpedoed their playoff hopes. Some of their struggles could be attributed to injuries to key players, including Tua Tagovailoa suffering a concussion in Week 2 that kept him out for the next four games.
Miami lost six of its first eight games before turning things around. The Dolphins closed the season with a 6-3 record over the final nine weeks to stay in playoff contention through Week 17.
Speaking to reporters ahead of the draft in April, Grier said he knows people are unhappy about the results from 2024 and "everybody wants us all fired," but it wouldn't impact the way they put together a roster going forward they believe can be a playoff contender.
Grier is one of the longest-tenured active general managers in the NFL. He was promoted to the job in January 2016 after spending 16 seasons working in the team's scouting department.
The Dolphins have made the playoffs three times during Grier's tenure as general manager. The franchise hasn't won a postseason game since December 2000.
