Travis Kelce, Taylor Swift Engagement Reportedly Surprised Several Members of Chiefs

The big news on Tuesday was the engagement announcement from Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and pop star Taylor Swift.

The engagement reportedly was news to a number of members of the Chiefs organization, as the veteran tight end kept the situation close to the vest:

Kansas City's players probably shouldn't have been too surprised that Kelce kept his engagement plans under wraps. After all, he was dating the most famous pop star on the planet—the last thing he'd want is for that type of news to leak before he even dropped to one knee.

As for Kelce, the 35-year-old is entering his 13th—and perhaps final—campaign, hoping to rectify the beatdown the Chiefs endured during last season's Super Bowl against the Philadelphia Eagles. The 2024 season was also probably the worst of his career, though most tight ends would take his 97 catches for 823 yards and three touchdowns.

Still, 2025 is about redemption.

"I'm coming back for sure. Gonna try to get into the best shape I've been this offseason and get back to the mountaintop," Kelce texted Pat McAfee this offseason, which was shared on The Pat McAfee Show. "Got a real bad taste in my mouth with how I played in that last game and with how I got the guys ready for battle. I can't go out like that!!!!"

When he does go out, at least he'll do so as an engaged or married man.
