Titans' Cam Ward Says He Doesn't Have Shedeur Sanders Rivalry, 'That's My Boy'
Despite the fact that Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders competed throughout the pre-draft process to be the first quarterback taken in the 2025 NFL draft, Ward insisted Tuesday that there is no rivalry between them.
During an appearance on Bussin' With The Boys (beginning at the 1:29:00 mark of the video), Ward described his relationship with Sanders:
"I don't have a rivalry with him," Ward said. "That's my boy. At the end of the day, this whole process, we thought me and him were gonna be 1 and 2 the whole time. ... That's just always been our mindset. It didn't go that way, but just coming out of college, even to the draft, I thought he was one of the better quarterbacks in the draft as well."

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
After a spectacular senior season at Miami that saw him complete 67.2 percent of his passes for 4,313 yards, 39 touchdowns and seven interceptions en route to being named ACC Player of the Year, Ward went first overall to the Tennessee Titans in the draft.
It was widely expected that Sanders would go at some point in the first round after Ward given that he too thrived in 2024, completing 74.0 percent of his passing attempts for 4,134 yards, 37 touchdowns and 10 picks as Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year at Colorado.
Instead, Sanders experienced one of the most shocking falls in recent memory, dropping all the way to the Cleveland Browns at pick No. 144 in the fifth round.
Rumors and speculation surrounding the fall focused on Sanders reportedly not taking a professional approach to pre-draft interviews with NFL teams.
However, Ward had nothing but good things to say about Sanders on Tuesday, adding, "He's always been just a great person to be around. A lot of stuff out there on him ain't really the truth just because they spin it different ways. They can spin stuff about me different ways."
While Ward is set to begin his rookie season as the Titans' starter, Sanders will have to work his way up the depth chart throughout the 2025 season.
Veteran Joe Flacco has already been named the Browns' starter, and after trading Kenny Pickett to the Las Vegas Raiders, it looks like a pair of rookies in Sanders and third-round pick Dillon Gabriel will be Flacco's backups.
