Cowboys' Dak Prescott Has 'Confidence' Micah Parsons Plays Week 1 amid Contract Talks
While Micah Parsons and the Dallas Cowboys appear to be a ways away from reaching a new contract, Dak Prescott is optimistic they will get something done soon.
The star quarterback said he feels Parsons will be on the field for Week 1.
"I've got confidence," Prescott told reporters on Monday. "I told y'all way back when. I'm just going off of experience, honestly, no different than mine. I've got confidence in that."

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Parsons, one of the top pass rushers in the NFL, is set to play the 2025 season on a fifth-year team option worth $24 million if a new deal is not reached before then. He publicly requested a trade from the Cowboys earlier this month, citing the team's lack of progress in contract talks throughout the offseason.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones called the trade request part of the negotiating process.
Tensions have recently increased between the two sides, as Jones claimed Parsons' agent, David Mulugheta, "told us to stick it up our ass" when discussing a long-term deal. ESPN's Ryan Clark said that he spoke to Mulugheta, and he denied using that phrase.
Jones previously told reporters that he offered Parsons a deal that would have made him the highest-paid non-quarterback in the NFL, but he didn't want to negotiate the contract with Mulugheta.
Where exactly Parsons and the Cowboys stand at this point is unclear, but what is clear is that Dallas will take a hit if Parsons isn't on the field for Week 1.
Parsons, who was drafted 12th overall by the Cowboys in 2021, has logged 52.5 sacks and earned four Pro Bowl nods, two First Team All-Pro selections and the 2021 NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year Award. The 26-year-old had 30 tackles, 12 sacks and a pair of forced fumbles last year despite missing four games.
What bodes well for Parsons is that the Cowboys have been known to give out contracts late in the offseason in recent years. Star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb signed a deal with Dallas on Aug. 26 last season, ending his holdout, and Prescott didn't get his new deal until the day of the Cowboys' season opener last year.
Whether Parsons will get a similar last-minute deal is to be determined.
